A really cute bookmark that you could try to make with origami paper.
All you need is some origami paper
(chiyogami works well), black crepe paper, white cardstock, glue and
scissors. And you are ready to get started!
First, take the cardstock. Cut a small circle for the head and a small rectangular piece for the neck. Also cut out another broader rectangle with a pointed edge on one side; this would be for the body. Glue the three pieces as shown in Photo 1 below

Cut out a narrow strip of origami paper for the collar of the under kimono, which is worn beneath the kimono. Fold this around the neck near the body to make a collar (Photo 2).
 |
| Photo 2 |
Next, take black crepe paper and cut out a shape like shown in Photo 3 for the hair. You may paste a small rectangular piece of any pattern paper of your choice on the hair to make the ribbon.
 |
| Photo 3 |
Fold along the dashed line (Photo 4) and stick the folded part at the back of the head to complete the hair. Also, fold the ribbon and stick at the back. See Photo 5.
Now, the head of the doll is complete (Photo 6).

Cut out a rectangular piece of origami paper for the kimono. The length here is approximately the length of your doll from the neck to the bottom. The width is approximately three times the width of the body card (Photo 7).
 |

(If you notice in Photo 7, you will see that there is small strip of plain paper at the bottom of the kimono paper. Read on to learn to make this, both at the top and bottom of the kimono paper.)
Fold about 0.5 cm at the top and bottom of the kimono paper (Photo 8).

Take a narrow rectangular piece of single colour paper, and fold this to make a narrow strip. Paste this strip at the top and bottom of the kimono paper on the inside, making sure that a little bit is visible on the front when you flip the kimono paper. (See Photo 9, 10 and 11)

Place the kimono paper under the body (Photo 12).

Fold the top left side of the kimono paper as shown in Photo 13.
 |
| Photo 13 |
An important note here , if you noticed while folding the collar of the inner
kimono and the kimono, we always folded the left side first (right side
of the doll). This is the way kimonos are traditionally worn, by
wrapping the right side of the kimono over the body and then overlapping
it with the left side. Wrapping the right side on top of the left
side, is done only while dressing the dead for burial.
Next, fold the top right side of the kimono paper (Photo 14).
 |
| Photo 14 |
Fold the rest of the left side, creasing the paper near the body card (Photo 15).
 |
| Photo 15 |
Similarly, fold the rest of the right side to overlap the left side (Photo 16).
 |
| Photo 16 |
Cut out a rectangular piece of paper, of a different pattern than the kimono paper. This would be the sash (obi) which is worn with the kimono. Place the obi paper on the kimono, covering the folds on the kimono. Fold and paste the obi at the back of the kimono. (See Photo 17)
 |
| Photo 17 |
To complete the obi, take the same paper and cut out a rectangular strip. Fold this strip to make a V-shape. Paste this at the back of the obi to make the bow. (Photo 18 & 19)
